Working software over status theater
Enterprise buyers still deserve weekly demos of running software. Slideware velocity is not delivery velocity. If the only artifact is a status deck, risk is accumulating where nobody can click it.
Prefer short demos of real flows: login, a core transaction, an admin path, and one integration. Record acceptance against written criteria.
Security as a baseline
SSO, audit logs, role-based access, encryption in transit and at rest — these are expected, not optional add-ons sprung at UAT.
Agree the security baseline in discovery: identity provider, data classes, retention, and who can access production. Building them late is expensive and politically painful.
Change control that does not freeze learning
Use environments, feature flags, and documented releases. Governance should reduce risk, not eliminate iteration. A change advisory board that cannot see a staging build is theater; a lightweight release checklist with owners is control.
Procurement-friendly clarity
Fixed milestones, acceptance criteria, and IP ownership in writing prevent painful surprises. Spell out what “done” means for each milestone: environments, tests, docs, and handoff.
